Delight for Khurram, despair for Saleh

KARACHI, Nov 24: Pakistan's Saleh Mohammed lost his third match against Gavin Pantall from Wales 4-1 while Khurram Hussain Agha who was beaten earlier on Tuesday outlasted Kim Yu King from Finland 4-3 on Wednesday in the 30th World IBSF Championships 2004 staged at Veldohoven, Holland.

According to the details made available here, Saleh who earlier won a couple of matches playing in the fourth session on Tuesday night lost to Pantall without much fight.

As he could clinch just one frame while losing four, Pantall got the first frame 83-24 and second 60-48. Saleh after losing two frames showed some signs of fightback by taking the third frame 59-57 and made it 2-1.

Pantall playing in his top form and knowing Saleh's caliber who was not his best at the moment played more calculatedly and won the next two frames 72-20 and 75-27 thus won the match 4-1.

Khurram made comeback on Wednesday morning in the first session after losing to Mark Allen of Northern Ireland on Tuesday. Khurram had to fight for each and every point and frames before winning the match. His opponent Kim played gamely before finally succumbing to defeat 4-3 frames.

In the nerve tingling encounter both the cueists got one each frames till the end which made it 3-3. However, Khurram came out victorious as he won 65-54, 80-12, 92-36, 57-59, 88-36, 35-70, 66-48. -Agencies
