Summit was a turning point: BD minister

ISLAMABAD, Nov 24: Visiting Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Morshed Khan said on Wednesday that the Islamabad summit had proved to be a turning point and a milestone in the history of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation.

Addressing a press conference with Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri here, Mr Khan praised Pakistan for making possible a 'doubtful' summit the 'most fruitful one'.

The 12th Saarc summit was twice postponed for various reasons and was eventually held in Islamabad in January. Pakistan currently holds the rotating chairmanship of the association. After the Islamabad summit, he noted, there had been talks on financial issues, economic cooperation and other Saarc-related issues. -APP
