Moscow terms EU doubts inadmissible

LISBON, Nov 23: Visiting Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday slammed as "inadmissible" doubts expressed by the European Union and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe over the outcome of the disputed presidential elections in the Ukraine.

He told a joint news conference here with Portuguese Prime Minister Pedro Santana Lopes that the doubts "are inadmissible because the results are not yet known". "We can't recognize or protest because no official results have yet been announced," he said in comments translated from Russian into Portuguese.

"I can advise others to follow our example," he added. "The Ukraine is a large European country with a developed law system, we don't have to give the country lessons, it is the Ukraine that can give lessons to others," Mr Putin added. -AFP
