KARACHI, Nov 22: The Jamat-i-Islami's Naib Amir Senator Prof Ghafoor Ahmed has said that President Gen Pervez Musharraf will have to leave office of the army chief before Dec 31, 2004, according to the promise he made to the nation.

Speaking at an Eid Millan party organized by the JI's Shah Faisal Zone on Sunday evening, Prof Ghafoor said that the public meeting on Nov 28 would prove that the MMA enjoyed the support of the citizens of Karachi.

He urged President Musharraf to shed uniform, warning that otherwise the image of Pakistan Army could be affected. He said India had appointed its Muslim scientist as president, but here Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan and other nuclear scientists were under 'un-announced arrest'.

JI Karachi chief Dr Merajul Hudda Siddiqui alleged that the Sindh government was creating hurdles in holding of the MMA's public meeting in the city, adding that the MQM could not solve problems of the city.

He deplored that so-called human right activists were silent over US bombing at Falluja on Eid days in which, he claimed 1,800 Muslims were killed and more than 60 mosques were destroyed. -PPI
