JACOBABAD: Two men kidnapped

JACOBABAD, Nov 22: Two persons were kidnapped from the outskirts of Bhittai colony, at the Sindh-Balochistan border, on Monday.

Contractor Gul Hassan Noonari and Manzoor Ahmed Buriro were on their way to Basket colony on a motorcycle when six armed men intercepted and kidnapped them. No FIR was lodged till the filing of this report.

TWO KILLED: A man and a woman were shot dead on the pretext of karo-kari in the jurisdiction of Geehalpur police in the Kashmor area on Sunday. Five armed members of the Shar tribe allegedly opened fire at Muhkmudin Suhrani, 24, and killed him. Later, they also shot dead their relative, Ms Raheela, 20. The accused people escapted after committing the double murder.

TRIAL BY FIRE: The ritual of Cher Beli (trial by fire) was observed at a jirga in the Mouladad area near here on Sunday to decide a theft case. Nabi Bukhsh Lashari and Rasool Bukhsh Katohar were accused of breaking into the house of Jamshed Talani and stealing cash and valuable items.

The jirga, presided over by Sardar Noor Ahmed Jakhrani, decided that the accused should prove their innocence by walking barefoot on embers and remaining unaffected. The accused agreed, walked on embers spread over several feet and were declared innocent.

SNATCHED: Two armed men snatched a motorcycle from Naib Nazim Azizullah Talani here on Monday in the jurisdiction of the Civil Line police station.
