AJK vehicles not returned

By Tariq Naqash

MUZAFFARABAD, Nov 19: Former AJK chief secretary is yet to return two official vehicles of the state even two weeks after his transfer from here, it was learnt on Friday.

The official, who was transferred and posted as additional secretary in charge of the federal information ministry, relinquished his charge as AJK chief secretary on Nov 3. But, sources said, he was yet to return two of the four official vehicles in his use - a Toyota Corolla car and a Kia jeep - to the Azad Kashmir central transport pool.

"The former CS has been politely asked to return the vehicles but so far there has been no response," a government official told this correspondent on condition of anonymity. It may be noted here that the former CS had four vehicles in his use, although officially a secretary was entitled to keep only one.

Of the remaining two vehicles, the 2200 CC Land Cruiser belonged to a United Nations agency and was parked in the Kashmir House in Islamabad to be returned to that agency on completion of the project for which it had been provided to the Azad Kashmir government.

The other, a Toyota Corolla car, has been temporarily provided to Raja Farooq Niaz, senior member, AJK Board of Revenue. Mr Niaz is already in possession of an officially allotted vehicle.

It may be noted here that the temporary charge of chief secretary is held by additional chief secretary (development) Sardar Abdul Rashid Khan, because the federal government has not yet posted any official as new chief secretary for the AJK.
