Progress on projects reviewed

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Nov 13: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Saturday reviewed the progress on development projects proposed by parliamentarians for provision of gas, electricity and construction of roads.

It was officially informed that while presiding over a meeting here on Saturday with the Planning Division and the Finance Division, the prime minister said the development schemes should be completed in time.

The Planning Commission, while closely monitoring the progress, should ensure timely release of funds for such schemes for their timely completion. The prime minister said that it was important to provide gas and electricity to areas which had so far been neglected. Energy played the role of a catalyst in generation of economic activity and promotion of business.

Therefore, he said, the government was focusing on providing gas, electricity and road network to remote areas. Special allocation for the construction of farm-to-market roads had been made to improve the quality of life of the people. The Planning Commission made a presentation on the development schemes initiated by the government.
