SWABI: 13 held for selling firecrackers in Swabi

By Our Correspondent

SWABI, Nov 13: Thirteen traders have been arrested here for selling the banned firecrackers. The police have warned that all those found indulging in either selling or firing the firecrackers would be put behind the bars and would not be released for Eid.

The social welfare bodies had already demanded a prompt action against all those engaged in the sell of firecrackers, alleging that the local administration had failed to control its trade and firing which posed a serious threat to the children while polluting the environment.

A police official told Dawn on Saturday that all arrangements for raiding and preventing the firing of firecrackers had been completed and there would be no such incident on Eid night or even after Eid.

Meanwhile, the local administration has warned the people to desist from aerial firing after the sighting of Eid moon.

EID: The ulema belonging to the district have announced that Eidul Fitr would be celebrated across the district on Sunday.

They said that they had completed 30 days of fasting and there was no need for sighting of Shawwal moon. There were no religious obstacles to observe Eid on Sunday, they added.
