HYDERABAD: Primary teachers plan movement

Bureau Report

HYDERABAD, Nov 13: Around 125,000 primary teachers will launch a movement after Eidul Fitr for resolution of their basic problems including restoration of job quota for teachers' children and regularization of contractual teachers.

This was announced by All Sindh Primary Teachers' Association president Mohammad Rafiq Jarwar at an Iftar party hosted by association leader Shafi Mohammad in Tando Mohammad Khan on Friday and later at a press conference.

He regretted that despite promises made by the Sindh education minister, problems of the teachers had not been resolved, and accused the minister of pursuing anti-teachers policies.

He said that after Eid, the primary teachers would hold demonstrations and take out processions throughout Sindh and finally stage a march up to Chief Minister house.

Mr Jarwar appealed to the primary teachers of Dadu and Nawabshah districts not to resort to any extreme action.

He appealed to the writers, intellectuals, educationists, and literary organizations to support peaceful struggle of the teachers for their rights.

A large number of primary teachers attended the Iftar party.
