ISLAMABAD, Nov 11: Syed Dilawar Abbas, President of the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) said on Thursday that no decision had been made yet on the surface to be used for next March's Davis Cup Asia Oceania Zone Group I home tie against Thailand.

A committee comprising former Davis Cup players Hameedul Haq and Rasheed Malik along with Brig Khalid Sajjad Khokhar and the president himself has been formed for choosing the surface.

A decision is expected early next month while a training camp for the tie will be staged in the last week of January, Dilawar told journalists.

Meanwhile another committee headed by Dilawar himself and comprising Sher Khan, Air Marshal Shahid Hamid, Brig Khokhar, Rashid Khan, Sikander Ajam and Hassan Dara has also been constituted to oversee the development of the PTF Complex.

Dilawar said that a sum of Rs 10 million donated by former Prime Minister Ch. Shujaat Hussain for the complex was now in PTF's kitty.

Under the first phase of the project, four rooms will be added to the players hostel for a total of seven rooms so that players attending camps at the venue could stay comfortably on the premises of the complex.

Work on the first phase is expected to begin in earnest next month and is likely to be completed within six months.

The PTF also plans to host the South Asian Under-14 Championship in January in Islamabad, Dilawar said.
