Blind cricketers receive money from PCB

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, Nov 9: Cheques worth a total of Rs 2.1 million were distributed among the members of Pakistan blind cricket team on Tuesday for winning the World Cup in India in 2002.

Sixteen cricketers and five officials of the team received a cheque of Rs one lakh each, presented by the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council chairman Agha Shaukat Ali.

The prize money was given by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after two years but not before the blind council threatened a demonstration against them last month for delaying the matter.

The protest was later cancelled when the PCB chairman assured them that the problem would be resolved soon.
