Qazi slams US attack on Fallujah

By Our Staff Reporter

LAHORE, Nov 9: MMA president and Jamaat-i-Islami amir Qazi Husain Ahmad has criticized the United States for destroying countries and cities on one pretext or the other.

In a statement on Tuesday, he said the US attack on Iraqi town Fallujah was a cowardly act and a new black chapter in the American war history.

He lamented that the Bush administration was ignoring all international laws and calls of world institutions to continue its aggression against Muslims to accomplish the agenda of clash of civilizations. He said there was no justification for continuing US operation in Iraq after it was established that Baghdad owned no weapons of mass destruction.

He lauded Iraqi freedom fighters who were bravely challenging the invaders.

Qazi Husain also criticized Iraq's interim prime minister Iyad Allawi for ignoring UN secretary-general Kofi Annan's appeal for ceasefire and getting his people killed at the hands of foreign forces.

He urged upon the Ummah, especially neighbours of Iraq, to forge unity in their ranks and play their effective role in checking bloodshed of Iraqis by US troops.
