Balochistan issues need dialogue: Jam

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, Nov 5: Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yousuf has said that the issues being faced by Balochistan cannot be resolved through any adventure and they need continuous political dialogue.

He said this while presenting the government point of view before the parliamentary sub-committee on Balochistan problems and their solution here on Friday. Provincial Finance Minister Syed Ehsan Shah was present on the occasion.

The sub-committee held its meeting for the second day on Friday under the chairmanship of Senator Mushahaid Hussain Syed presided over the meeting. "We have a lot of expectations from the committee," he said, and added that the committee should present Balochistan's issues in a better way and help the government solve the problems.

The chief minister said he had already suggested to the federal government to hold negotiations, but still it was not too late and it was a good sign towards solving the problems.

"The committee should help us in resolving the financial problems of the province, considering that Balochistan is a unit of the federation, and protect its rights," Jam Yousuf said, adding that he and his government would have protested whenever Balochistan had been denied its due rights. "There will be no compromise on the rights of Balochistan," he said.

He rejected the apprehensions and reservations of anti-development elements and said that with the implementation of mega projects, the local population would not convert into the minority. "If we felt this, we would be the first to protest against such injustice," Jam Yousuf told the committee members.
