FAISALABAD, Nov 5: Crackdown on dealers of fake fertilizers continued in parts of the province on Friday. In Faisalabad, Samundri police claimed to have rounded up four dealers of fake fertilizers and booked them under the law.

Reports said the City Samundri Police, on the report of Samundri Deputy District Officer (Agriculture) Bashir Afzal, conducted surprise raids and arrested Muhammad Shabbir and Maqsood Ahmad when they were selling fake and adulterated fertilizers.

Similarly, the raiding team of the Saddar police picked up Rehmatullah and Wali Muhammad for the same offence. All the four people have been sent behind bars after the registration of cases.

SIALKOT: The fertilizer dealers continued their strike in Narowal as a protest against heavy fines imposed on them by the district government for alleged overcharging.

According to a press release, negotiations between the agitating fertilizer dealers and the Narowal district government's officials remained fruitless. The dealers kept their shops closed and the farmers suffered great difficulties due to unavailability of the fertilizers.

Narowal Fertiliser Dealers Association President Rana Tanvir Ahmad and secretary general Barkat Ahmad vowed to continue their strike till the acceptance of their demands.
