FAISALABAD, Nov 5: Dacoits and thieves took away cash, gold ornaments, valuables, a car, a truck and eight motorcycles in 14 strikes in the city and its rural areas during the last 24 hours.

A gang of robbers looted Rs90,000 in cash, jewellery and foreign currency from the house of Rauf Alam in Gulberg. Two masked dacoits snatched Rs22,000 from Aftab near Lal Mills Chowk in the Factory Area police. As many bandits looted cash and cell phones from a public call office on Sargodha Road.

Some dacoits snatched cash and valuables from Amanullah in Chak 505-GB, Mamukanjan. Ali Zafar was deprived of motorcycle by armed men in Chak 432-GB of Jaranwala tehsil, Hasan Ali in Chak 239-GB and Manzoor Sabir on Sargodha Road.

Ijaz was robbed of his two-wheeler by four highwaymen on Arif Road. The two-wheeler of Hameedur Rahman was taken away from Jhang Road and that of Maqsood from Circular Road.

Thieves took away the motorcycle of Shaheed Ahmad from Aminpur Bazaar and that of Khalid Aziz from the income tax office. The car of Hamid Bashir was stolen from outside his house in Gurunankpura. Highwaymen snatched a truck from Akram near Pansera village on the Faisalabad-Jhang Road.

WIRELESS PHONES: The local police and administration have decided to connect the main mosques of the city with a wireless network to ensure effective communication (with police) in case of a terror attack.

The decision was taken by District Peace Committee here on Thursday. The committee which met with Nazim Zahid Nazir in chair, decided that nine religious places of the city would be made a model in terms of security arrangements under the pilot project. These places are Gole Masjid, Gulberg, Markazi Imambargah, Jamia Masjid Katchery Bazaar, Masjid Tehsil Wali, Jamia Gilania, Gulberg, and Uloom-i-Islamia, Jhang Bazaar.
