Arslan and Adnan crack centuries

LAHORE, Nov 3: Fine undefeated century by Adnan Raza and Ahmad Butt who made 99 propelled Lahore to an imposing first innings total of 300 for six in allotted 83 overs against Peshawar in the Under-19 cricket tournament at Country Club, Muridke on Wednesday.

Adnan scored 135 with 17 fours off 192 balls while Ahmad made 99 off 100 balls with 11 boundaries.

A century by Arslan Anwar and half centuries by Adnan Younis and Nawaz Sardar enabled Sialkot to pile up 298 for all in first innings against Quetta at Sheikhupura Stadium.

Arslan hit 112 included 20 fours off 133 balls while Adnan (67) and Nawaz (66) ably supported him to lift the total, despite off-spinner Umar Ajmal who finished with six wickets for 83.

At the stumps, Quetta were 62 without any loss. At Jawad Club, Faisalabad,the home team scored 264 for all in 82 overs against Multan whose Sohaib Maqsood finished six for 39. Summarized scores. At Country Club, Muridke against Peshawar.

APP adds from Rawalpindi:
Fourteen wickets fell on an absorbing opening day as three-day level-II match of the National Inter-Region Cricket Championship between Rawalpindi and Karachi B at ARL Ground on Wednesday.

Asked to bat first after losing the toss, Karachi B were dismissed for 220 in 54.1 overs but fought back to cut the home side down to 81 for four wickets at stumps on the opening day.

Arif Ayaz hit a sparkling 107, embellished with 17 boundaries, to give a semblance of respectability to the visitors first innings. His knock sounded all the more crucial since the next-best Karachi batsman was Iftikhar Ali for his 41.

The local pace duo of Saad Altaf (4-87) and Rauf Akbar (3-62) sliced through the Karachi batting but not without able support from slow bowlers Raheel Majeed (2-33) and Jawad Hameed (1-26).

Rawalpindi had consumed 18.3 overs in their first innings reply before bad light precluded any more proceedings in the day's play with Ameer Khan still at the crease with 30.

Raheel Majeed made 20 for Rawalpindi as Iftikhar Ali (2-10) and Farman Shah (1-23) remained the successful bowlers for Karachi.

Our correspondent adds from Lahore: Four wickets each by Asim Butt and Abdur Rehman enabled Sialkot to skittle out Lahore Blues in first innings for 153 on first day of Inter-region Level II cricket tournament at LCCA ground, on Wednesday.

Asim gave away 39 runs and Abdur Rehman 50 to claim four wickets as Lahore Blues were all out in 51.3 overs.

Only Tariq Rasheed (71, nine fours, one six, 117 balls) batted with confidence. By the close of play, Sialkot were also in trouble as they had lost four wickets for 94.

Ali shines

Medium-pacer Muhammad Ali helped Faisalabad bundle out Peshawar in first innings for 120 in 49 overs in Inter-region Level-II cricket tournament at Sports Stadium, Sargodha on Wednesday.

Ali took five wickets in ten overs at a cost of 30 runs. By the close of play Faisalabad were 117 for three.
