Saqlain joins fitness camp

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, Nov 2: Mohammad Saqlain has reported to the fitness camp, at the National Hockey Stadium on Tuesday, two days before schedule.

The camp is in preparation for the Champions Trophy and Saqlain was to join it on Thursday after arriving from Germany from where he completed a two-month contract with a local club as a player.

"Earlier, I had planned to stay in England for two days but cancelled the programme and reported to camp on the advice of coach Asif Bajwa", Saqlain said.

Saqlain said that Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) called him back and he had no pressure of facing coach Roelant Oltmans.

To a question, he said that his attitude was not bad in the past and he would try to further improve it. He added that he left Germany after completing two-month contract with a local club which earned second position in league hockey.

He remarked that playing league hockey in Germany was a tough job and he learnt a lot.

Meanwhile, all 12 players attended the fitness camp under the coaching of Asif Bajwa.
