KARACHI, Nov 2: The City Government will introduce the ticket system for recovery of fines imposed on violation of municipal laws.

A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting held under the chairmanship of DCO Mir Hussain Ali here Tuesday.

The meeting considered the system of ticketing in detail and it was decided that the EDO Revenue will submit a report at the next meeting.

He will identify cases of violations, including encroachments on roads and footpaths, sewerage flows and other offences, in his report. It was decided to approach the Sindh government for assigning magisterial powers.

In the meeting, steps were examined with regard to traffic pressure, encroachments and other civic problems and it was decided that to ensure smooth traffic flow, the transport department will undertake measures of immediate nature.

The district officer of transport informed the meeting that planning is under way for pedestrian zones in Saddar and Raja Ghazanfar Ali Khan Road which are under very grave traffic pressure.

The DCO asked the transport department to identify more areas in this regard.

The EDO Master Plan Ateeq told the meeting that work on GIS has started and in this regard services of consultants have been hired.

The meeting decided that in order to take practical steps for establishing a grain market outside the city. In this regard, necessary planning would be carried out while the Sindh government would be requested to allocate 2000 acres.-APP
