SIALKOT, Nov 2: A student of the Murray College was shot dead on Tuesday when Muslim Student Federation activists resorted to firing in a protest rally held against the murder of MSF divisional president.

MSF divisional president Muhammad Fiaz Qadri was shot dead by unidentified people in Bhago Bhittay village in the Saddar police jurisdiction late Monday night.

He was sleeping at his dera when four gunmen awakened him and took him to nearby fields where they fired in his mouth and other parts of his body, killing him on the spot, eyewitnesses told police.

They said the killers danced around the body and fled away by firing shot in the air.

Saddar police have registered a case with no arrest.

He was laid to rest on Tuesday in his native graveyard in the presence of the hundreds of the mourners.

Later, the MSF activists staged a demonstration in front of the Murray College in the afternoon, demanding immediate arrest of the killers. They resorted to firing in the air as a result of which panic was created. Some bullets hit a college student Hafiz Shoaib who succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

Murray College principal Prof Riaz Sadiq said the situation was under control after the nasty incident.
