KARACHI, Nov 2: The Karachi Transport Ittehad has demanded the administration for payment of compensation for buses, minibuses and coaches, which were recently put on fire by miscreants in the city.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, KTI President Syed Irshad Hussain Shah Bukhari also demanded action against the miscreants. He said putting on fire the vehicles involved in fatal accident was understandable. But, he said it was an act of terrorism, if vehicles were torched after murder of any political party's worker.

He recalled that 1-D bus was put on fire near Gujar Nullah in Liaquatabad last Saturday; a 2-K bus in Gulbahar and a coach near Nagan Chowrangi were torched on Monday. He further said that a couple of days back a 4-J bus was hijacked near Nagan Chowrangi and extensively damaged.

He demanded payment of compensation to the transporters and said that if their demands were not met, they may resort to strike. -APP
