44 per cent water shortage for Rabi

ISLAMABAD, Nov 1: The Indus River System Authority (Irsa) on Monday expressed satisfaction over steps taken by the provinces for water management and its storage and put the anticipated shortage of water at 44 per cent for the entire Rabi season.

The river system authority, which met here on Monday, reviewed the implementation of the Rabi water management plan approved on Oct 12 and discussed the readjustment of provincial shares if so required.

The meeting, however, expressed satisfaction on the share of water utilized by the provinces in October and appreciated their efforts for its conservation through better water management.

Irsa will meet again on Dec 1 to review the water situation keeping in view the rainfall and actual water utilized by the provinces till that time.
