ISLAMABAD, Nov 1: Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri Monday briefed delegations from Denmark and Sweden on Pakistan's foreign policy with special emphasis on the peace process in South Asia including Kashmir issue.

Foreign Minister Kasuri in his separate meeting with a six-member delegation of the Danish Parliament's Foreign Relations Committee the foreign policy imperatives, regional and global issues of mutual interest.

Pakistan's efforts with regard to fight against terrorism, relations with the European Union and Denmark were also discussed.

The foreign minister briefed the delegation on the situation in Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, non-proliferation and disarmament.

Foreign Minister Kasuri also briefed the delegation on the restoration of democracy and the government's efforts to strengthen the framework for protection and promotion of human rights in the country.

The Foreign Relations Committee, led by its Chairman Jann Sjursen, is visiting Pakistan from November 1-3 to develop a better understanding about the country and the challenges being faced in the post 9/11 scenario.

SWEDISH TEAM: Meanwhile a 12-member Swedish defence commission, led by Chairman Hakan Juholt, member of the Swedish Parliament also called on the foreign minister. The delegation is on a 4-day visit to Pakistan.

Foreign Minister Kasuri apprised the Swedish delegation of the country's foreign policy challenges including Pakistan's role in promoting regional peace and security.

Pakistan's efforts in the fight against terrorism, the Palestinian question as well as relations with EU and Sweden were also discussed.

Currently, there is a growing interest within the Swedish political and defence establishment with respect to developments in South Asia and the Swedish Defence Commission is in Pakistan to acquire first-hand information on the key challenges being faced by Pakistan.
