NAWABSHAH, Nov 1: Residents of the Qazi Ahmad town held a protest demonstration on Monday against a cotton factory, demanding its shifting from the area.

Led by Ali Bux Lashari and Asad Unnar, the protesters said the cotton factory was a health hazard for people as it was causing different diseases.

They said the presence of the factory in the town was a violation of environmental laws.

They demanded that the government and environmental agencies should ensure its shifting outside the town.

They warned that they would continue their protest if the factory was not shifted outside town.

TRANSPORT: Residents of the Jam Sahab town are facing hardships due to non-availability of a proper transport system.

Zulfiqar Rind, Ali Jan Rind and Jeevan Zardari told journalists here on Monday that Jam Sahab was 23 kilometres away from the Nawabshah city having a population of 40,000 but due to the poor bus service it was difficult for students, government employees, labourers and other people to reach at their destinations on time.

They regretted that a new Datsun service was introduced with low fares and better service but it was forced to close by the transport mafia.

They demanded that the Sindh chief minister, transport minister and the district nazim should look into the matter and improve the transport system in the town.

ADMISSION TEST: The Quaid-i-Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology, Nawabshah, has announced that candidates can obtain admit cards for admission test, scheduled for Nov 21, up to Nov 10.
