By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Oct 30: The process of admission to 54 academic programmes at the masters and bachelors levels of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Sciences and Technology will begin from November 1.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the academic council of the university, with the vice-chancellor, Dr Syed Iqbal Mohsin, in the chair.

Admissions were being offered to 12 departments of the science faculty and 18 departments of the arts faculty.

Admissions to the 5-year Pharmacy programme, 4-year Computer Science and 3-year BBA (Honours) programmes were also open from the new session.

Admission forms and prospectuses would be sold and accepted at the two designated branches on the university's Gulshan-Iqbal Campus and Abdul Haq Campus till November 13, said a high official of the university on Saturday.

The university was also introducing two new masters level programmes in Environmental Science and Biotechnology, and one BA (Hons) programme in Special Education.

Students desirous of admissions would have to give three departments of their choice in order of priority on the admission forms.

The university has also decided to give scholarships equal to tuition fees to new students, said the VC. Students admitted to the bachelors programmes and wanting to avail the facility should have secured 70 per cent or more marks in their intermediate examinations. While, those admitted to the masters programmes should have secured 65 per cent or more marks in their preceding bachelor exams, said the VC.

To a question, the VC replied that there had been no increase in fees for the new session.

Students from outside Karachi could write for admissions to the university at Karachi, following which admission forms and related information would be sent to them through mail.
