Petroleum minister invited to India
ISLAMABAD, Oct 29: Petroleum Minister Amanullah Khan Jadoon on Friday received an invitation from his Indian counterpart to visit New Delhi to discuss the proposed Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project.
An official statement said Indian High Commissioner Shiv Shankar Menon delivered the invitation to the petroleum minister, and discussed with him matters relating to the pipeline project.
Mr Jadoon said the $2 billion project would not only open up multi-dimensional cooperation between the two countries but also promote peace in the region. He asked Mr Menon to convey his sincere sentiments to his Indian counterpart and said Pakistan would welcome Indian participation in the project.
Prospects of the 1,500-km long pipeline project became brighter after President Pervez Musharraf and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh agreed in their New York meeting last month that such a project would contribute to the welfare and prosperity of the two nations.
