By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, Oct 29: Two teams of the Lahore Polo Club (LPC) will tour India this year for different competitions. LPC president Abdul Hayee Mehta, stated at a press conference on Friday that the first team would take part in the India-Pakistan Punjab Games to be held in Patiala from Dec 5-11.

In the other competition, LPC would send a team to play a three-match series against Jaipur Polo Club from Dec 20 to 27, he said. He added the series was being held on reciprocal basis and in return Jaipur Club would visit Lahore in February.

The selection and availability process of players had started and after completion the teams would be finalised for both the events. Mehta pointed out that the club was promoting women's polo also and was setting up a women's team which would take part in three-nation tournament to be held at LPC grounds in March next year.

Malaysia and Singapore were the other two nations to take part. Elaborating other activities of the LPC, he said that kids riding school which had around 250 children was running successfully.

He claimed that LPC was self-reliant in technical know-how and offered its services in this connection to all polo clubs from Peshawar to Karachi. In all, 24 tournaments would be played in the current polo season which had already begun, the same as last year which was a record figure in itself.

The most prestigious event of the polo calendar, the Quaid-i-Azam Championship was likely to be held in Lahore in February, he added.
