ISLAMABAD, Oct 29: Defence Secretary Lt-Gen (retired) Hamid Nawaz Khan on Friday briefed the 12-member Swedish defence commission team regarding security situation in the region with special reference to the ongoing dialogue between Pakistan and India on Kashmir.
The Swedish team, led by Hakan Juholt, is in Pakistan on a 'Fact Finding Mission' to study and monitor the recent developments in the South Asian region. Lt-Gen (retired) Khan said the conventional arms imbalance did not favour Pakistan and the world should realize the country's needs in this regard.
The defence secretary said both Pakistan and Sweden enjoyed excellent relationship and acknowledged that Sweden had helped Pakistan in meeting the defence equipment requirement for its armed forces.
The issue of ongoing war on terror was also discussed in the meeting and the Swedish team was apprised of the role being played by Pakistan as a frontline state in the international efforts to combat terror.
