FAISALABAD, Oct 29: Scores of workers of the MMA on the second consecutive week on Friday staged a demonstration in protest against 'indifferent attitude' of police in the murder case of Qari Noor Muhammad.

The protesters took out the procession from Jamia Masjid Ibrahimi, Civil Lines, immediately after offering the Friday prayers. They chanted slogans against the police alleging they had released three accused involved in the killing of Qari Noor after taking bribe.

The police were deployed around the mosque. Law enforcers did not allow MMA workers and leaders to march on area roads. The protesters were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the police. MMA leaders blamed the police for playing in the hands of killers of the Qari and vowed to continue their protest till the arrest of the accused.

Qari Noor was picked up by plainclothesmen on charges of links with Al-Qaeda on the night of Aug 13. Later, he died in custody after five days of his arrest. A murder case had been registered against unknown accused. Heirs blamed that UC No 263 Naib Nazim Irfan Gull, his father Haji Gull mosque treasurer Haji Bashir were indirectly involved in the murder.
