SIALKOT, Oct 28: The district government's special scrutiny team, headed by DCO Syed Tahir Raza Naqvi, has found the educational degrees of 22 teachers fake who had been appointed about two years ago.

This was said by district Nazim Mian Naeem Javaid while talking to newsmen here on Thursday.

He said fraud cases would be registered against them after termination from job. Salaries paid to them would also be recovered, he said.

The Nazim said their names were being kept secret and would be disclosed later.

Mr Javaid said the number of teachers appointed on fake degrees could be increased as the educational documents of all teachers in the district were being scrutinized gradually.

Earlier, the district government had smashed an inter-provincial gang of forged degree makers on Oct 16 and arrested its various members.

PASSPORTS: The people of Sialkot and Narowal districts have urged the Nadra authorities to set up special counters at swift centres for issuance of machine readable passports (MRPs).

The registration authority has recently started issuance of MRPs. At present, the facility was available in Karachi, Islamabad/Rawalpindi and Lahore.
