PESHAWAR: Special body formed to address health issues

PESHAWAR, Oct 28: A special committee has been formed to explore avenues of cooperation between Unicef and the Mardan district government on health and other social issues.

A press release says the step was taken during the visit of a Unicef official team led by Dr Rafah Aziz and comprising Dr Taimoor, Dr Moazam, Dr Pervez and Dr Abdul Jamil. They called on many officials of the district.

The team also visited basic health units in the district and took keen interest in a number projects being financed by foreign donor agencies.

They also inquired about the process of the Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) being carried out with the financial assistance of international donor agencies across the country to eradicate polio.

The Unicef team also visited different training centres where professionals are imparted training that how the local population could be aware of diseases like polio, hepatitis B and C, and tuberculosis and lethal skin disease.

They expressed satisfaction over the training process and made some suggestions to improve the training standard.
