KARACHI: Wanted gangster's aide arrested

KARACHI, Oct 28: The police on Thursday arrested a close associate of Rehman Dacoit from his hideout in Lyari. Police acting on a tip-off, raided a house located in the notorious Afshani Gali within the jurisdiction of Kalakot police station and nabbed Ahsan alias Mohajir, a close associate of Rehman Dacoit. Twenty-one-year-old Ahsan was also a former gunman of the notorious gang leader, police added.

According to police, Ahsan was involved in over 22 cases of murder, attempts to murder and police encounters. The police also recovered two TT pistols from his possession.

The young suspect had got married about three months back, the police added.

"Police are interrogating the suspect and further arrests are expected," SHO Kalakot Wasif Qureshi said. The suspect was playing an active role in the recent spate of the ongoing gang war between the groups of Arshad Pappoo and Rehman Dacoit, the SHO added.

SHOT DEAD: A nineteen-year-old boy was gunned down and his associate was injured when unknown suspects on a motorcycle opened fire at them in Chakiwara on Thursday night.

Police said that Maula Buksh, 19, and his friend Arshad, 27, was sitting near a restaurant when two men on a motorcycle pulled up and opened fire at them.

The injured were taken to the Civil Hospital where Maula Buksh was pronounced dead, while Arshad was admitted for treatment.

Police could not ascertain immediately whether the killing was in the backdrop of the ongoing gang war in Lyari, or if was a result of some personal enmity.

In another incident, a young man was shot in Mehmoodabad on Thursday night.

Police said that unknown suspects opened fire at a young man in Junejo Town. Police said the victim was sitting near a pan shop when unknown armed suspects opened fire on him . The victim was taken to the JPMC where he was pronounced dead.

SUICIDE: A thirty-five-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree near New Sabzi Mandi on early Thursday morning.

Police said the unidentified man was found hanging from a tree near Bilal Masjid near the New Sabzi Mandi within the jurisdiction of Sachal police station.

Police shifted the body to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for postmortem examination.
