KARACHI: KBCA seals dilapidated portion of mosque


KARACHI, Oct 26: On the directive of Additional Chief Secretary Sindh, Anwar Hyder, the Karachi Building Control Authority (KBCA) has sealed the dilapidated and dangerous portions of Katchi Memon Mosque situated on plot No 40, 41 SB-6, Saddar Town.

Sindh chief secretary had brought the KBCA's attention towards dilapidated condition of the mosque situated at Raja Ghazanfar Ali Road, Saddar and had ordered action in this regard.

On his directive, the KBCA's inquiry committee for dangerous buildings held a meeting and reviewed the reports regarding the mosque whereby the High Court has declared the building a national heritage.

The ground-plus-two storey mosque has ablution place at the first floor from where continuous leakage of water had caused great damage to the structure and required immediate repair. On the very reasons, the second floor structure of the mosque was also declared as dangerous.

After the meeting, the committee carried out further inspection of the mosque and sealed the dilapidated portions of first and second floors.-APP
