FAISALABAD, Oct 26: The Punjab government has prohibited eight actresses and one actor from giving theatrical performance.

The action has been initiated on a report of the Faisalabad district coordination officer confirming that these artistes were promoting obscenity and vulgarity.

Bindia was performing in a stage drama Hun Mojan Karo at Bambino Theatre, and Nadia Chaudhry and Mansha Khan in Aj Toen Main Teri at Shabnum Theatre.

Meanwhile, dancers Arbah, Sitara Ghazal, Zarqa Shahzadi, Sonia Lal and Samran performing in stage drama Joban Lashkaran Mare have also been prohibited from performance. The drama was being staged at Naz Theatre. The only actor banned is Tasleem Abbas who is charged with passing unethical comments.

EXHIBITION: The Faisalabad Institute of Textile and Fashion Design (FITFD) will arrange an 'international textile exhibition' here in January.

Project director Rasheed Khalid said here on Monday that 17 foreign multinational companies dealing with textile and garment machinery had shown their interest in addition to 22 domestic firms.

"We are planning to set up approximately 50 stalls on our campus," he said and added that it would also help local manufacturers to upgrade their units with modern machinery in addition to exploring the possibility of launching joint ventures for the fabrication of textile machinery in Pakistan. - APP
