KARACHI: Young man found dead in Korangi

KARACHI, Oct 26: A young man was killed by unknown persons and his body was found in his home in Korangi 3-1/2 on Tuesday morning. Jameel, 35, used to live with his brother-in-law, Nadeem Khan, in a rented house.

His body was found hanging from a ceiling fan in the house.

Police said the victim suffered an injury caused by a blunt weapon. He was later hanged to death by unknown suspects.

Victim's brother-in-law Nadeem was in Sukkur at the time of the killing, police said.

Police shifted the body to the JPMC for postmortem examination.

SHOT DEAD: The ring leader of a drug-peddler group died and fours of his associates were injured when they were attacked by the members of a rival group near Kalapul on Tuesday evening.

SHO Zia of Defence told Dawn that Raja Sabir was sitting with his associates at a hotel located in Hazara Colony near Kalapul when some armed suspects pulled on motorcycles and sprayed them with bullets.

Police said Raja and his associates were having Iftar when they were fire upon.

The injured were taken to the JPMC where Raja Sabir died during treatment. His associates Siddiqi, Shakir and Naushad were admitted for treatment.

Police said that attackers belonged Farooqi group which is allegedly running a drug business in Chanesar Goth. Police said that two groups basically belonged to same family and their rivalries have deepened due to the business interests.

ACCIDENT: An unidentified young man died in a hit and run accident in Gadap. Police said victim was crossing a main road when he was hit by a speeding vehicle.

The body was shifted to the JPMC for legal formalities.

ARRESTED: Police on Tuesday arrested one of the absconding suspects in the Jamia Farooqia firing case which occurred in 2001 in Shah Faisal Colony.

Five persons, including Maulana Inayatullah Khan, Maulana Hameedur Rehman, Mufti Mohammad Iqbal, driver Abdul Hameed and a student Hafiz Talah Iqbal, were killed in the firing. Four others were injured in the ambush. They were travelling in a Hiace vehicle which was ambushed in Shah Faisal Colony on January 28 2001.

Subsequently, an FIR 11/2001 was lodged in the Shah Faisal Colony. Four suspects identified Ali, Hasan Akhtar, Qasim Zaidi Rizwan and others were nominated in the case.

Earlier, Ali and Rizwan were nabbed by the police on different occasions.

TPO Shah Faisal Asif Ajaz said they arrested the suspect Hasan Akhtar from Shah Faisal Colony on Tuesday.

The suspect was awarded sentence in absentia, police said.
