Candidates for FPCCI presidentship

KARACHI, Oct 26: The Businessmen Panel on Tuesday formally announced Chaudhry Muhammad Saeed from Azad Kashmir as their candidate for presidentship of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry for two years term - 2005 and 2006.

BMP Chairman Tariq Sayeed in a press conference here said: "It is AJK's turn and we have picked up right man from there as next FPCCI chief."

The Businessmen Group has nominated Sardar Muhammad Ashraf as their candidate for the top slot of the FPCCI.

Mr Sayeed said this time 102 executive council members of the FPCCI would be elected - 51 from chambers and an equal number from business associations throughout the country. And 46 from chambers would directly come to the FPCCI executive council, whereas 51 seats of trade associations would be categorized in A and B through elections amongst them.

The elections for 25 seats of category A would be held on Dec 14 and for B (25 plus five additional seats) the polling would be held on Dec 16.-APP
