LAHORE, Oct 25: A division bench of the Lahore High Court dismissed on Monday an appeal against the deportation of PML-N chief Shahbaz Sharif on May 11 last.

Advocate A.K. Dogar had, on behalf of the Pakistan Lawyers Forum (PLF), filed the appeal against the single bench decision which sustained in June last the LHC office objection to the filing of the writ petition.

KILN WORKERS: The Lahore High Court on Monday ordered release of 31 people, including 10 children, who were recovered from the four-month illegal detention of a kiln owner of Nankana Sahib.

The recovered people earlier informed the court that kiln owner Akhtar Chaudhry did not pay their wages for three months. He started torturing them when they stopped work in protest.

The court also directed the recovered people to approach the police concerned for the recovery of their dues and registration of a case against the kiln owner.

BAIL GRANTED: The Lahore High Court on Monday granted interim bail to a newly married girl, her father-in-law and mother-in-law.

Naureen had submitted in the writ petition that she married Qamar Abbas. Her uncle Inayat, who opposed the match, implicated her and her in-laws in a Hudood case 13 days after the marriage. She said that police were harassing and attempting to arrest them.

The court converted the writ petition into a bail application and granted them interim bail. The court also directed Noor Husain to produce his son Qamar on the next date of hearing.

DIRECTIVE: The Lahore High Court on Monday sought explanation from the Sialkot executive district officer (health) for not paying eight-month dues of a nurse despite court orders.

Firdous Sultana had submitted in her contempt petition that the EDO (health) was denying her payment which the court had ordered on Oct 13.

Justice Jamshed Ali ordered the EDO (health) to submit in writing the reasons for non-compliance of court orders within three weeks and clear the eight-month dues of the nurse.
