PESHAWAR, Oct 25: Law-enforcement agencies have been directed to beef up security for Chinese nationals and other foreigners working in the NWFP and Fata in order to avoid any untoward incident in the future.

The directive was issued by NWFP Chief Secretary Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi on Monday at a high-level meeting held to make foolproof arrangements for the security of expatriates working on different projects.

Top officials of different law-enforcing agencies attended the meeting.

The chief secretary directed the home department to prepare a foolproof work plan for the security of foreign nationals, in terms of manpower, equipment, logistics and other requirements to avoid security weaknesses and loopholes in the future.

He also stressed the need of close coordination among the army, civilian administration, and intelligence and security agencies so that better security could be ensured by deploying available resources.

The meeting took a number of decisions for the security of Chinese nationals and other expatriates. It also reviewed the possibility of enhancing the number of police force and other security personnel. -PPI
