KARACHI: Education dept to be revamped, says minister


KARACHI, Oct 25: Sindh Education department would be streamlined to enhance academic standards in the province for ensuring provision of quality education to the youngsters enrolled at the public schools.

This was pledged by Sindh Education Minister Dr Hamida Khuhro on Monday, while speaking as chief guest at a function organized to mark the World School Library Day at the Safia Khan Memorial Government Primary and Secondary School, New Town.

The minister said basic changes were being introduced at the Education department, to improve the quality of education, especially at the government-run schools.

She also urged philanthropists to come forward and help supplement the government efforts in this regard.

She appreciated the schoolchildren, who had set up libraries in their respective institutions on self-help basis.

Former Sindh governor Lt Gen Moinuddin Haider highlighted the significance of education and its role towards nation-building.

Adviser to the chief minister, Fatima Surriya Bajia, and educationist Anwar Ahmed Zai also spoke on the occasion.-APP
