KARACHI, Oct 24: A young man was stabbed to death over a petty dispute in Patel Para on Sunday. Police said that the one, Abdul Baseer, had parked his auto-rickshaw in front of a spare parts shop in the locality.
Some people, flanked by one, Kamran, objected to it which led to the exchange of heated arguments. Kamran and his companions allegedly stabbed Baseer and his friend Ibrahim and fled from the scene.
Police said both the victims were rushed to the Civil Hospital where Baseer died during treatment.
SHOT DEAD: A youth was shot dead by unknown suspects in Mominabad late Saturday night.
Police said that Imran, 19, was standing near his house in the jurisdiction of Mominabad police station when unknown suspects on a motorcycle opened fire, killing him instantly. His body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for postmortem examination.
A man identified as Babu alias Babul, 35, was shot dead near Chishtia Mosque in Nasir Colony, Korangi, on Sunday night.Meanwhile, Darakhshan police said they found body of man, identified as Ghulam Rasool, in their jurisdiction.
ACCIDENT: A minibus was set on fire after it knocked down a motorcyclist in Landhi on Sunday. Police identified the victim as Waqar, who was riding the motorcycle along with his friend, Furqan.
Enraged people set the killer vehicle, minibus of route no. W-18, on fire. Both the injured were taken to the JPMC where Waqar was pronounced dead on arrival. Furqan was provided treatment.
In another accident, a young woman died and two others injured when a minibus of route no. D-7 overturned near Natha Khan Goth. The deceased was identified as Ms Nasra, and the injured as Nazia, 20, and Shabana, 18. The injured were provided treatment at the JPMC.
BOOKED: An FIR was lodged on Sunday against the nazim of UC-9 for attempted murder and ransacking property of an eating house on Saturday night.
Police said that Zahid, brother of the hotel's owner, Arif, complained that the Nazim, Masroor Ahmed alias Chacha, came to the hotel and demanded Rs0.5 million as Bhatta (extortion money). As Arif refused to meet Masroor Chacha's demand, the latter, along with his friends, manhandled Arif and ransacked the hotel's property. The complainant claimed that the suspects looted Rs0.1 million cash and escaped. The FIR (217/2004) was lodged under section 324 at the Brigade police station.
SHELLING: Several pushcarts caught fire at the old Sabzi Mandi following a group clash on Sunday evening.
The trouble started when a transporter pulled up a vehicle and started washing it in front of the business place of a fruit vendor. The vendor objected to it which infuriated the transporter. He and some his friends indulged in a quarrel with several vendors at the scene and a clash ensued.
Several pushcarts caught fire during the clash and the vehicular traffic on the main University Road was disrupted. Police fired teargas shells to disperse the embattled groups. No arrests were made.
