Six-member Pakistan badminton squad leaves for India
LAHORE, Oct 22: A six-member Pakistan badminton squad left on Friday for India via Wagah Border to take part in the Indian Asian Satellite badminton tournament to be held in Hyderabad from Oct 24.
The party comprises five players and one officials, said secretary, Pakistan Badminton Federation (PBF), Aamir Hayat Rokari. Zeeshan Omer will lead the side whose other members are: Wajid Ali, Muhammad Waqas Ahmad, Tahir Ishaq and Ashraf Masih. Senior vice-president, PBF, Syed Naqi Mohsin is the manager.
Rokari said apart from taking part in Indian Satellite, the Pakistani team will play two Tests against India at Chandigarh on Oct 30 and Julander on Nov 1. He said Sri Lankan, Iran, Indonesia, Thailand, Bangladesh and Nepal are the other participating teams of the Indian Satellite.
PBF secretary said the Pakistan Satellite tournament will be held in Islamabad from Nov 26 to 30. "Singapore, England, India, Nepal and Bangladesh have already confirmed their participation and some other countries are expected to join in," he said, adding, "It would be the biggest event in the history of badminton in Pakistan." -APP
