KARACHI: Probe ordered into fake appointments

KARACHI, Oct 21: The Sindh Minister for Education, Dr Hamida Khuhro, has ordered constitution of district-level committees to probe fake appointments of teaching as well as non-teaching staff in the education department.

Talking to people from various walks of life at her office on Thursday, she said that fake appointments, malpractice and other financial and administrative irregularities had brought a bad name to the department.

She directed concerned officials to hold an inquiry into such complaints by constituting committees in each district, and submit a report in that regard at the earliest.

Expressing her views on the 23,000 vacancies to be filled in the education department, Dr Khuhro made it clear that these would be filled in a transparent manner, adding that the process of hiring would commence soon.

Dr Khuhro pointed towards the closure of schools in the province due to lack of teacher, adding the lifting of ban on recruitment would help the department to re-start the teaching process at these schools. - APP
