Lowari Tunnel to get priority

PESHAWAR, Oct 19: A meeting between the NWFP government and the National Highway Authority here on Tuesday decided to give priority to construction of Lowari Tunnel, a second tunnel in Kohat and Malakand Tunnel as the base for expanding road communication services in the province.

These projects would be taken up shortly in order of priority for construction, NHA Chairman Maj-Gen Javed Farrukh told the meeting.

The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani, also laid stress on speeding up the construction work at various chunks of the Indus Highway, Gambila to Dera road dualization, construction of Torkham expressway, improvement of Ghulam Khan road and the remaining portion of Ring Road in Peshawar.

Senior Minister Sirajul Haq, provincial minister Shah Raz Khan, chief secretary, additional chief secretary, secretary of works and services and general manager attended the meeting.
