KARACHI: City govt plans IT varsity

KARACHI, Oct 19: The city government intends to set up an IT university in the metropolis, Nazim Naimatullah Khan said on Tuesday. He said this during a visit to a local software development house in Defence.

He said that, however, if a full-fledged university could not be established immediately, the city government would set up an IT institute at the Korangi Civic Centre.

The nazim further stated the CDGK would not allow the shopkeepers to sell items of daily use at higher prices than those fixed officially.

He warned that action would be initiated against those indulging in overcharging.

Mr Khan was of the view that the local government system had proved successful to a great extent.

He made it clear that there were no differences between the city and the provincial governments over the grant of lease to the dwellers of Kutchi abadis.

The nazim pointed out that provision of water as well as that of transport were the main problems in the city, and that efforts were being made to resolve these issues.-APP
