SHEIKHUPURA, Oct 19: Dacoits killed a former armyman and a rice dealer in separate incidents here on Tuesday.

Former armyman Riaz and his friend were coming to city on a motorcycle when three armed men intercepted them near Daowoki Mallian. On resistance, the outlaws opened fire killing Riaz on the spot. The dacoits made off with Rs10,000 in cash.

In another incident which took place in Dhool village on the Lahore-Jaranwala Road, six armed men entered the house of rice dealer Abdul Rashid and held up the family. On resistance, the bandits fired at Rashid killing him instantly.

ROAD BLOCK: Scores of truck drivers blocked the Faisalabad Road near Nawan Kot, some 20km away from here, on Tuesday.

The drivers, who were protesting against the poor condition of the Faisalabad Road, parked their vehicles in the middle of the road suspending traffic for about two hours.

They said they had to decrease the speed of their vehicles owing to bad road condition. And during the low speed, some times they were intercepted by dacoits.

They regretted that the Bhakhe police had never bothered to take any action in this regard. They demanded early repair of the road besides the provision of security.
