KARACHI: Three die in road accidents

KARACHI, Oct 19: Three persons died in road accidents in different parts of the city. Two persons were killed in a road accident in SITE on Tuesday evening before Iftar.

Police said that Munnawar Husain, 45, and his nephew Mohammad Faisal, 21, were on a motorcycle (KAD-8673) when they were hit by a speeding truck (JT-4336) near the Habib Bank Chowrangi during the rush hours, killing both on the spot. Their bodies were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities. Police claimed to have arrested the errant truck driver, Abdullah.

In another accident, an 18-year-old boy, Khalil Ahmad, died when hit by a speeding truck in Baldia Town. Police said that the accident occurred near Gol Masjid, following which the area people set the vehicle on fire. The police arrested the errant truck driver on the spot. The victim's body was shifted to the Civil Hospital for postmortem examination.

INJURED: At least two persons were injured, one of them losing his arm, in a road accident when a speeding truck rammed into several vehicles near the ICI Bridge, West Wharf, on Tuesday morning.

Police said that the two brothers, Noor Bux and Nawab, were in their Suzuki when the truck (LPT-8040) hit them, also damaging five other vehicles. Subsequently, Noor Bux lost his left arm, while his brother sustained injuries.

The commuters in other vehicles also suffered injures. However, the errant truck driver escaped from the spot leaving the vehicle behind.

DIES: Body of a 50-year-old man was recovered from a pond in Manghopir on Tuesday.

Police said that the body was found in a pond located in Aliabad area. The police said that the victim could not have drowned in the pond, as it was not deep enough. After autopsy at the Civil Hospital, the body was shifted to the Edhi morgue for identification.

KILLED: A headless body of middle-aged man was recovered from a graveyard in North Karachi on Tuesday morning.

Police said the body was few days old with its head chopped off. The victim could not be identified. The police shifted the body to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.
