ISLAMABAD, Oct 18: The United States assistant secretary of state for South Asian Affairs, Christina Rocca, will call on Federal Education Minister Lt-Gen (retired) Javed Ashraf Qazi on Tuesday to discuss education sector reforms, official sources told Dawn.

Ms Rocca is on a four-day visit to Pakistan as part of her periodic visits to discuss a wide range of issues with the Pakistani leadership.

Officials at the education ministry on Monday remained busy in consultation with the security agencies to make fool-proof security arrangements for Ms Rocca.

Despite her engagements with the president and the prime Minister, education minister is the only cabinet member whom she will see at his office.

During the visit, Ms Rocca will also hold discussions with the top government officials on Madressah reforms introduced by the government. Under the reform package, seminaries are provided financial assistance to introduce subjects like Maths, General Science, English etc.
