HYDERABAD, Oct 17: Former federal minister and People's Party Parliamentarians leader Zafar Ali Laghari tendered his resignation from the PPP federal council and the basic membership of the party here on Sunday.

In a statement, he said that he had not resigned from the party in order to join any other party but because he was disgusted with the role of the present leadership of the PPP.

He said that he still considered Benazir Bhutto his leader and would remain loyal to her. He said that he was aware that the main leaders of the party were hatching conspiracies against Ms Bhutto and he could not become a party to this intrigue.

He thanked sincere party workers who, according to him, were still with him, and said that he would continue to serve them in his individual capacity. When contacted on telephone, Mr Laghari confirmed the contents of the resignation.
