HYDERABAD, Oct 17: Rich tribute was paid to Rooplo Kolhi for his relentless struggle against the British Raj at his 145th anniversary held at the Sindh Museum here on Saturday night under the aegis of the All Kolhi Association.

Speaking on the occasion, leftist leader Comrade Jam Saqi said that Rooplo Kolhi had waged a relentless battle against the colonial rule and sacrificed his life to liberate Sindh. He said that Rooplo Kohli had received full support from his wife in this struggle.

He said that it was the duty of the people of Sindh to remember their heroes who had sacrificed their lives for the cause of Sindh.

A leader of the Sindh National Council, Dr Dodo Mehri, said that Rooplo Kolhi was a part of the history of Sindh and he had become immortal.

Noted writer and OSD to the Sindh education minister Mansoor Qadir Junejo said that Rooplo Kolhi was an indomitable character of the history of Sindh who had fought against the British Raj alone.

He said that Sindh had always fallen prey to internal and external conspiracies. He said that 11,000 schools were lying closed in the province.

He said that a programme was on the anvil to provide computers to the village schools and the education minister, Dr Hameeda Khuhro, during her recent visit to London had signed such an agreement.

President of the association Dr Chetan Mal, Lakhu Mal and Parkho Mal also spoke on the occasion.

The gathering adopted resolutions, demanding setting up of a museum in the name of Rooplo Kolhi in Nagarparkar, naming the under-construction road leading to Nagarparkar after him and an end to excesses against the Hindu community.
