KACP chief Dr Muzaffar Shah dies


LAHORE, Oct 16: Veteran Kashmiri leader, Maj Dr Muzaffar Shah (retired) died at a hospital in Edinburgh, UK, on Friday, according to a press release issued here on Saturday afternoon. He was 80.

Dr Shah was the president of Kashmir Action Committee Pakistan (KACP).

He is survived by three daughters and two sons.

Dr Shah was born on January 24, 1924, in Baramula in Indian-Occupied Kashmir. He started his medical education in Srinagar but migrated to Pakistan after illegal occupation of Kashmir by the Indian forces.

He received MBBS degree from King Edward Medical College, Lahore, in 1948.

After serving for a few years in the Azad Kashmir Medical Corps, Dr Shah started private practice in Lahore.

Meanwhile, KACP secretary general Lt-Col A. M. Mir (retired) has expressed profound sense of grief over the death of Dr Shah.-APP
