LAHORE, Oct 16: Opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly Qasim Zia says the opposition parties are coming closer due to incapability of the incumbent government.
He was responding to a question that which power was strengthening the anti-Musharraf elements by bringing the 'dispersed' opposition parties together on a single platform.
"Who had asked the ruling PML to table in the National Assembly the dual-office bill?" he questioned while speaking at his chamber here on Saturday.
The government had better passed the law that every army chief would be ex-officio president of the state, he said.
Replying to another query, he said the incumbent provincial assemblies had lost their utility after police and the local government departments were withdrawn from their jurisdiction.
These were the basic departments through which provincial governments could have provided relief to the masses.
Answering another question, he categorically stated that his party, the PPP-P, would never enter into any unconstitutional deal with Gen Musharraf.
